Houston Shop Love Advertising Wins Among Global Giants at 2021 Jay Chiat Awards
Prestigious honor is the latest in Love Advertising’s multi-year award-winning run
Past winners of the global awards are attributed to names of the likes of McCann and Leo Burnett, but this year Houston shop, Love Advertising, won big and took home a silver medal for Strategic Excellence at the Jay Chiat Awards. The agency was awarded this honor for their breakthrough work with the YMCA of Greater Houston. The Jay Chiat Awards is the world’s foremost competition for strategic thinking and planning in advertising, media and marketing. Entrants are judged on the strategy’s uniqueness, resonance and ability to show a direct correlation to a powerful creative idea. The global recognition adds to Love Advertising’s streak of honors throughout the last three years; the agency has quickly become one of the most awarded firms in the region, amassing more than 100 awards including recognitions from The Webby Awards, Creativity Magazine, and The American Advertising Awards.
“This award demonstrates an independent shop from the Heights in Houston, Texas can produce powerful ideas that change behaviors on a global scale, and compete with national and global companies,” said Brenda Love, principal and founder of Love Advertising.
Love Advertising’s strategy for the YMCA of Greater Houston helped shift perceptions of the Y from gym-based facility to a change agent within the community. A key element of the strategy was a unique membership dedicated to helping solve disparities and inequalities in vulnerable Houston communities. This new membership gave its members an opportunity to directly impact their community — a bold strategy for the YMCA, especially during the pandemic, when memberships were dropping dramatically.
“The campaign proves the real-world impact of marketing that marries best-in-class creative talent with brave brand strategy and further validates the investments we have made at Love in empowering our teams to drive success for our clients,” said Brittany Williams, VP and Director of Strategy at Love Advertising.
“The YMCA of Greater Houston’s partnership with Love Advertising is a demonstration of true collaboration and teamwork,” said John V. Cardone, Chief Brand Officer, YMCA of Greater Houston. “Our alignment toward a common vision to bring about greater impact in our community and world afforded us the opportunity to be a recipient of the Jay Chiat award. Although this is only the beginning, the strategy will serve as the fuel that will allow our organizations to attain uncommon results.”
